Kristen R: A good week of training and marathon records

“Be happy for this moment. This moment is your life!”
― Omar Khayyam

marathon recordOK, let me be clear: I didn’t break any records. Full disclosure, I haven’t run a marathon in years. But did you see a new marathon record was set earlier this week?

How is it possible to run 26.2 miles in 2:03:23? People, I would do a backflip for my half marathon time to be 2:03. I mean, I’m praying — and, yes, training — for 2 hours, but if I’m keeping it real, I would be mighty proud of 2:03.

Nothing seems quite as awesome compared to this feat, so I’ll just leave you with my mileage to date (below) and say that I’m back on my training schedule.

I got all my training runs in this week and felt like I stepped it up after taking it easy for a while. I did a week’s worth of tempo, pace and hill runs, and am hoping to take on a 10-miler tomorrow morning to kick off the weekend.

When do you think we will see a 2-hour marathon record be set? It must be coming…

Gotta run!

Good for you! I’m having a slow week, myself and will write on it. I would like to watch that marathoner fly, but I could never imagine it for myself.

Holy cow, I can’t even imagine. What an inspiration. I have had a couple of low mileage weeks which I need to write on too. Ugg it is a never ending saga! You are kicking butt!!!
